Decarbonization
AECOM understands both the magnitude of the climate crisis and our responsibility to help fix it. We achieved operational net zero and are one of the first companies to have science-based targets approved by the Science Based Targets initiative. This experience is supporting our advice to transportation clients on setting and reaching their own targets.
The energy requirements in the transportation sector are changing Our unique capabilities in both these sectors provide us with the expertise to develop the net-zero solutions of the future.
Can incentivizing fleets bring an electric future faster?
How will forward-looking organizations use the infrastructure bill to lead the switch to EVs? The Biden administration's IIJA will invest US$7.5 billion to build out a national network of electric vehicle chargers. This presents a significant opportunity to accelerate the transition to decarbonized mobility, and that fleet operators should be encouraged to lead the way.
The future is electric
To accelerate the adoption of zero emissions technologies, we are helping cities, utilities, fleet and infrastructure owners around the globe with services and solutions spanning planning to deployment, support, and infrastructure management.

The coronavirus pandemic changed the way we navigate across our cities and states. That, says AECOM’s Andrew Bui, combined with a combination of stimulus-funded infrastructure and environmental factors is leading to an acceleration of electric vehicles on our roads.
Smart energy solutions
Transportation is helping enable the energy transition. From cities incubating dynamic charging lanes to climate adaptation measures being developed for maritime infrastructure, smarter and more affordable energy solutions are needed to achieve a net zero future. Today AECOM is delivering smart energy solutions empowering electrification of highways, energy systems planning for microgrids, looking at future fuels and evaluating community readiness for EV uptake among other solutions.
Enabling ‘Charging as a Service’
Comprehensive fleet electrification is a complex challenge that requires innovative solutions to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles. We understand these challenges related to vehicle and charging technologies, infrastructure planning and engineering, utility coordination, and capital and operating costs. Our Charging as a Service (CaaS) business model provides a turnkey solution that reduces complexity, expedites deployment, and includes price certainty to optimize investments.
Improving customer service and loyalty while reducing carbon emissions
CTrides is a Connecticut state-wide, worksite-based transportation demand management (TDM) program that we have managed since its inception, contributing to its growth and scope. Notably, we’ve introduced steps to reduce carbon emissions since 2011, helping commuters find greener ways to work, school and entertainment.
