Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail – RDC06

Singapore

The KL-SG High Speed Rail provides an alternative travel mode between Malaysia and Singapore consisting 7 stations in Malaysia and 1 station in Singapore with a total alignment length of ~350km. MyHSR incorporated under the Ministry of Finance is the project delivery vehicle for the Malaysia side.

The proposed Kuala Lumpur – Singapore High Speed Rail Project to connect the two cities, with high speed trains travelling at design speed of up to 350 km/hour , was first announced by the then Prime Minister of Malaysia and Singapore jointly on 19 February 2013. This project will be the first cross-border high speed rail in Southeast Asia and will be the fastest mode of travel between the city centres of Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

MyHSR Corporation Sdn. Bhd. has been formed by the Malaysian Government to design, build, finance and maintain (DBFM) the civil infrastructures for the high speed rail within Malaysia.

MyHSR awarded six(6) Reference Design Consultancy (RDC) packages for the project of which AECOM secured RDC06 which covers the alignment from the southern end of the Iskandar Puteri Station throat to the International Boundary. The RDC06 package covers all infrastructural works within the package. The RDC06 section between the two endpoints is approximately 10km long, starting from the south end of the track fan for Iskandar Puteri Station. The civil infrastructure works contain the Malaysian portion of the bridge across the Straits, with similar viaduct sections on land, interspersed with areas where the railway will be on earthwork formations comprising both cut and fill sections. The scope of Reference Design Consultant Package 06 (RDC06) also covers all other related civil infrastructures within the stretch, including earthworks, road re-alignments, access roads, emergency escape route, required for the high speed rail. This cross border project requires significant coordination on the straits crossing design between Malaysia and Singapore which includes significant effective coordination with LTA Singapore’s consultant (AECOM Singapore) on the key important area of interface requirements and standardization of the straits crossing viaduct superstructure and substructure.

AECOM has also been appointed by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore as the lead consultant to conduct the Advanced Engineering Study (AES) for the complete design of the Singapore stretch of the project.
