Ireland Annual Review 2025
Welcome to the Ireland Annual Review 2025
Each year, for more than three decades, our report has charted economic and construction activity across the island of Ireland.
This year, we find ourselves in a pivotal moment of economic and construction opportunity. In the Republic of Ireland (ROI), 2024’s strong economic performance, driven by high labour demand, windfall tax revenues, and easing inflation, created fresh momentum for increased investment in infrastructure and housing. Meanwhile, in Northern Ireland (NI), the restoration of power sharing in Stormont has unlocked new opportunities for growth, supported by strong month-on-month business activity.
That said, there are chronic, critical infrastructure gaps in housing, transport, energy, water, and healthcare, which are holding back both ROI and NI on the global stage. As the report highlights, meeting these needs, and effectively deploying the funding that was unlocked in 2024 necessitates a sea change in the infrastructure sector.
That’s why, alongside our dedicated industry spotlights, we take a deep dive into the rise of programmatic thinking – a game-changing approach that is reshaping how infrastructure is planned and delivered. By stepping away from fragmented, project-by-project methods, this allows for more effective prioritisation and sequencing of investments – delivering outcomes that are greater than the sum of their parts.
