Claire Bonham-Carter

Claire has more than 20 years of experience in climate change planning, currently leading a global Center of Excellence for Sustainability + Resilience within the Buildings + Places business line and ESG for the West region of the United States.  She specializes in supporting transportation agencies, cities and counties to develop climate action, carbon neutral, climate adaptation and sustainability plans for their own operations and wider communities.  She has worked on climate mitigation and sustainability plans for cities across the U.S. including Dallas, Chicago, Long Beach, Seattle, Miami and New York, as well as many smaller California cities and counties. Her transportation resilience work covers transit, ports and airports including for clients such as Ports of Long Beach and Oakland, Metrolink, BART and San Diego International Airport. Claire managed AECOM’s partnership with the Rockefeller Foundation 100 Resilient Cities Program, for whom AECOM worked with 30 cities around the world to develop a resilience strategy. She is the co-chair of the Water and Climate Resilience Committee for the Bay Area Council and an advisor to the California Resilience Challenge. She is on the board of Ecodistricts, a U.S. based NGO supporting the development of more resilient, equitable and low carbon communities. She has a MA Hons in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University, UK and is an AECOM Fellow.
