Philip Tandy

Phil is an operations director in AECOM’s Building + Places business line in Europe. He is based in Basingstoke, UK and has over 30 years’ experience in the construction industry, joining through a legacy business 10 years ago. Phil has a civil and structural engineering background and has gained wide experience in the construction industry working across sectors and for public and private sector clients. He started his career as a site engineer for a major contractor and his career journey included temporary works design, structural engineer, multi-discipline design lead, project manager, framework manager and now operations director for the 1,100 person Project, Program and Cost business unit in the UK and Ireland. Phil has worked across Social Infrastructure projects throughout his career for central and local government organizations including education, health and justice clients. He has worked on justice projects in the UK since 2014, including AECOM’s delivery of the largest new build prison in the UK, HMP Berwyn, extensions to existing prisons, HM Court Reform Delivery Partner and asset surveys of the entire court and prison estate. A key area of focus for Phil at present is working with the Ministry of Justice to deliver their expansion program and driving innovation in climate change and social value including our SME engagement, ED&I both internally and externally and safety and wellbeing. Phil is also a Board Director on Clear Futures, the AECOM/Robertson Joint Venture which is available for UK public sector clients to deliver their medium to long term programmes to create sustainable communities. Clear Futures is a partnership with the public sector, seeking to work with them to both define and deliver solutions to meet their specific challenges and aspirations for sustainable projects and communities.
