Richard is chair of our Urbanism + Planning master planning global sub-committee and leads the Urban Advisory team in the United Kingdom and Ireland. He is an architect and urbanist with a passion for placemaking; utilizing the unique, inherent assets of a place to inform and guide viable, sustainable masterplans that align with economic reality. Richard’s experience spans over 25 years directing numerous high-profile, international, and national projects that encompass multi-faceted services from strategic planning, economic development, master planning, urban design and architecture. The team structure is diverse and reflects the complexity and breadth of global, national and local projects; from new sustainable communities in the UK and Serbia to major transit-led development in London and campus transformation projects. Thought leadership has been an important aspect of Richard’s role for a number of years. Through individual speaking slots and panel presentations at national events such as the Northern Powerhouse Conference, MIPIM and UK Construction Week (NEC); articles for New Statesman, Perfect Circle and AECOM, he has been able to generate a presence in the industry and has an ability to influence matters of relevance to practice and business direction.
