Established by an Act of Parliament in 1956, AIIMS is India’s apex healthcare institution. With the objective of developing ground-breaking patterns of teaching in undergraduate and post-graduate medical education in all its branches, AIIMS has demonstrated the highest standards of medical education. The project involves the redevelopment of a 145-acre site for AIIMS, with AECOM leading the master planning, programming, and schematic design of over 5 million square feet. of new ground-up space. This involves coordinating with teams around the world to execute the vision for this iconic campus, including the development of a new 3,000 bed hospital along with academic, research and student housing facilities. The campus not only caters to the medical requirements of the City of Delhi but takes care of patients from across India and internationally. It has distinguished itself as a tertiary care center, offering the best medical treatment to all patients, including accessibility to economically disadvantaged sections of society.
We brought together an in-house global team of experts, including: medical, academic and laboratory planners and campus designers from the U.S.; master planners from China; vertical transportation and healthcare logistics specialists from Australia; an on-the-ground team in India for project management, medical planning, master planning, architecture, building and civil engineering, transportation, landscape and sustainability, as well as a deep knowledge of the national construction industry and local laws and regulations.
