Our work designing and constructing a new world-class cancer centre for the Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust has delivered improved and streamlined patient pathways, addressed a deficit in radiotherapy capacity and delivered greater integration of research into clinical care.
The Cancer Centre at Guy's brings most services together under one roof, innovatively planned in to village clusters, which include Welcome, Radiotherapy, Outpatients and Chemotherapy. Each cluster has its own distinct identity, providing specific facilities required by patients for a particular treatment. The Innovation Hub enables 70 King’s College London researchers to work with clinicians, extending cancer medicine boundaries.
The Centre’s six linear accelerators will be the first radiotherapy machines in Europe to treat patients above ground level. A 44-chair chemotherapy day unit, 22 consulting rooms, support service and a 6,000 square metre private patients unit are also included, transforming patient treatment and care.
