Rejuvenating a tight downtown site, repairing the city grid and reconnecting neighborhoods: Golden 1 Center, home of NBA Sacramento Kings, is uniquely Sacramento and sets new sustainable standards for stadium and arena development. The indoor-outdoor design reverses the typical internalized design of arenas and celebrates the local climate and lifestyle. Golden 1 is the world’s first indoor sports venue to receive LEED Platinum.
Since the arena broke ground in 2014, projects in downtown, midtown and West Sacramento totaling nearly $4 billion have grown the region’s urban core and continue to fuel its economy and quality of life. Since its opening, pedestrian traffic has increased by 47 percent in downtown, and over 3,000 residential units have been built or are under construction.
