The National Air and Space Museum (NASM) occupies a key site on the historic National Mall in Washington, DC, between the National Museum of the American Indian and the Hirshhorn Museum.
The Museum is currently undergoing a multi-year revitalization of its interior, exterior and surrounding public space. The historically sensitive renovation of the gardens and terraces greatly improves universal accessibility while providing a robust, biodiverse planting plan that references themes from the Museum.
The introduction of a number of sustainability measures such as an architectonic organization of canopy trees provides microclimate benefits help to improve visitor comfort.
