Together with Taikang Insurance Group, we teamed up to envision innovative, integrated, multidisciplinary medical care facilities, a recovery center and senior care for the city of Chengdu. Our comprehensive role on design, landscape, architecture, MEP engineering, medical planning, and interior design, has enabled the project to realize its goals of medical efficiency, environmental sustainability, and community interdependence.
Apart from providing all-inclusive medical facilities for all age groups, the center will also operate as a continued care retirement community (CCRC), providing different levels of care based on the changing needs of the resident. The center will offer options ranging from independent living to skilled nursing, while maintaining a close community support system that caters to the complex social needs of the elderly.
The surrounding urban fabric is injected into the project and blends seamlessly from the ground level. Public zones are flexible and robust to engage with the hospital, giving the center an identity and a sense of place. There will be community spaces where senior citizens can engage in activities such as weekend markets, playing board games, practicing tai-chi, jogging and dancing. The center will be built on a 53,445-square-meter site and aims to provide 1,000 beds. It will feature state of the art technology along with 800 rooms for senior care. Once completed, the project will demonstrate a truly integrated and socially responsible urban development.
