Improved access to education, training and skills is a key ambition of many of the UK’s cities and regions as the country strives to level up, close the gaps in educational attainment and drive inclusive growth.
Located on the site of the old Boddingtons Brewery in the city center, The Manchester College’s new city campus is home to their ‘Industry Centre of Excellences’ for further and higher education in creative and digital, computing, media, performing and visual arts. Providing high spec, industry standard facilities such as a studio theatre, film studio, main theater and a series of performance theaters, and recording studios, the new campus offers novel and effective teaching and learning opportunities in partnership with the region’s employers.
As one of Europe’s largest creative, digital and technology clusters, Manchester is home to a $6.2 billion (£5 billion) digital ecosystem and the location of MediaCity, UK Europe’s largest purpose-built digital hub. The city’s thriving creative community includes the BBC. ITV and Brown Bag Films. As the war for talent and an ever-growing demand for creative and digital skills continues, the campus has a vital role to play in growing and developing the next generation of talent, creating a pipeline of jobs for the city.
The new campus is an important part of the continued regeneration and transformation of Manchester city center, attracting students from right across the Greater Manchester city region with its welcoming and accessible spaces, vibrant environment, rooftop terrace and library.
