Digital sewer rehabilitation

Our in-house three-tiered toolset enables us to model, plan, design and present efficient sewer rehabilitation programmes utilising the power and functionality of InfoAsset Manager and ArcGIS, combined with an optimising algorithm. Developed by our programmers and asset management experts in collaboration with Exeter University, these tools can save up to 40% costs through efficiency savings.

The planning tool uses a risk-based deterioration model to focus CCTV investigations towards poorly performing assets before employing an innovative decision support tool to strategically evaluate intervention decisions. This process ensures that a cost-effective capital maintenance programme is delivered. Rehabilitation solutions are optimised based on the combination, location and severity of defects, with scoping packages automatically produced. This not only improves sewerage asset performance, but the methodology begins to proactively address serviceability incidents, which ultimately leads to an improved customer experience.

The tools have been utilised by a number of water companies including South West Water, Severn Trent Water and Thames Water.
