When existing data is limited, our sewer capacity assessment tool enables an initial risk assessment of sewer capacity across the wastewater network, with outputs feeding into the Drainage Water Management Plan (DWMP) process.
It is especially valuable when considering smaller catchments, where it may be uneconomical or inefficient to carry out a full model build.
The tool can also be used as an initial screening tool to understand and prioritise the areas most at risk of sewer flooding before more detailed models are built, ensuring further investment is targeted. Our Rapid Model Build tool can support the development of these hydraulic models where they are required.
A bespoke version of the tool is used by the developer services team in South West Water to quickly assess proposed connections to their sewer network and the impact on capacity.
