The aim of the or multi-dimensional carbon modelling project was to create a set of consistent standards and approaches about how to define, embed and utilise time, cost, and carbon data by using integrated data and information modelling. In concert with UK Construction Playbook and National Data Strategy, the Environment Agency 4D, 5D carbon project is set to revolutionise project delivery, creating better and more responsive services, also helping to fulfil the Construction Playbook requirements.
Work done and value provided:
The project was aimed at helping to ensure that data is exchanged, integrated, and visualised in a timely, proportionate and consistent way. This in turn improves the efficiency and data flow into the other Environment Agency tools such as the Cost and Carbon Tool. Eventually, having better quality data will help to improve co-ordination and support better decision making - especially at an early optioneering stage when there is the greatest opportunity to influence time, cost, and carbon considerations. The project will help the Environment Agency to work more efficiently with its partners to use technology better and create data. By using and applying Environment Agency MIM standard, higher levels of confidence can be created in outputs and consistently support the delivery of both better outcomes and organisational targets.
