There was a need to reduce the number of management areas displayed in the GIS polygon/area files to 14 to align with Natural England (the public area dataset) and to seaward coastal zones. The project was tasked to modify the existing dataset.
Work done and value provided:
AECOM worked with the Environment Agency’s stakeholders to discuss the approach to existing watershed boundary datasets and their respective use cases, and to establish a naming convention that should be applied to the areas. Based on those discussions, AECOM reduced the management areas from 16 to 14 so that they match public facing areas. Seaward areas were then added to match public facing boundaries and a metadata file was created. Two polygon feature classes were submitted as a part of a Esri based file geodatabase.
