ESG advisory in a nutshell: US rail network and net zero
We've asked our ESG advisors from across our global practice to give their thoughts on a query they're often asked. If this theoretical query resonates, you can find out more about our ESG advisory services and get in touch directly with us below.
We have just over a decade to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the US rail network - how do we get there safely, cost-effectively, and keep services running reliably?
"The main areas of focus here would be on making inroads into mid-term energy efficiencies such as addressing the mixes of the fuel to make rail travel more efficient, as well as investigating the possible uses of hydrogen storage and fuel deployment. Tracking innovations coming through in similar sectors such as heavy goods vehicles and trains would be a good source of new ideas for adoption. If the transport operator has responsibility for station assets, other efficiencies to explore include high performance facility upgrades such as improvements to lighting systems and control systems.
In terms of implementing these efficiencies cost effectively, we've developed an AI digital solution to help clients identify, navigate and optimize funding opportunities for projects and programs."
