Services: Planning and programme management
Project Description: The £76M Kendal Flood Risk Management Scheme is a catchment-based approach to alleviate and manage the flood risk in the River Kent catchment, to better protect homes and businesses from flooding and to improve the local environment and community amenities. Kendal is the first area to be delivered, followed by the villages of Burneside, Staveley and Ings, and upstream measures including flood storage. In addition Natural Flood Management measures, such as upland peat regeneration, are being integrated into the plans which aim to slow the flow of water and provider wider environmental benefits across the catchment. Through the Client Support Framework, AECOM has seconded in a Planning Manager to work alongside the Environment Agency project team to deliver high quality planning and programme services, ensuring that the project is delivered to its agreed objectives.
Added value: The AECOM Planning Manager is working closely with the Environment Agency and its Delivery Partners to collate, review, challenge and monitor project and programme data; including detailed analyses on actuals and forecast data; and review of programmes / schedules to ensure robustness of delivery. Through expert planning and programme co-ordination, comprehensive engagement with all key delivery partners, and transitioning through the challenges afforded by the covid pandemic, buy-in was achieved to reach agreement on the revised NEC3 level acceptance on the construction programme.
